The
Belleayre Region consists of the towns and villages around Belleayre
Mountain, site of New York State's Belleayre Ski Center. The
area
stretches for about 50 miles - mostly along Route 28 - from the City of
Kingston on its
eastern edge to the Village of Andes on its western edge. It extends
through Ulster County to Delaware County in New York State. The area
includes Kingston, Woodstock, Boiceville, Mount Tremper, Phoenicia, Big
Indian,
Pine Hill,
Fleischmanns, Arkville, Margaretville, Roxbury, and Andes. The region
is readily accessable from major metropolitan areas. Kingston is
located off the New York Thruway (Exit 19) about 100 miles north of New
York City, and 50 miles south of Albany. Andes is about 50 miles west
of Kingston, along State Route
28. The Belleayre Ski Center, and the recently approved Belleayre
Resort project, are about 35 miles west of the Kingston
exit on the New York State Thruway.
